Marianne Doherty

MarianneDMarianne is a PhD researcher from Durham Law School and the Department of Sociology in Durham University. She has recently submitted her PhD thesis which examined experiences of the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Programme in the UK. Her research interests are broadly located within prison education, desistance and criminal law and she has worked as part of the Tort Law teaching team at Durham Law School and with Durham University’s Inside-Out programme in HMP Frankland and HMP Durham. Outside of the University, Marianne has worked for the Committee for Justice in the Northern Ireland Assembly and has worked with criminal justice stakeholders to write, develop and implement a prison education programme in Northern Ireland prisons. She is also a musician and, in her free time, she teaches music privately in Derry and Belfast.
