Ashleigh McFeeters is a third year PhD student at Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work. Her doctoral research examines the role of the news media in peace-building in post-conflict societies, with a focus on female ex-combatants. Her research interests include gendered terrorism, former combatant’s roles in conflict transformation, women and peace-building, and the news media and peace/conflict. Her extracurricular activities include peer mentoring in the School of Arts, English and Languages, the Interdisciplinary Research Committee, the Gender and Society Research Group in The Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, and the Graduate School choir.
